Title: two more months
Post by: LordEoin on January 18, 2014, 02:59:32 AM
Two more months until the wine cycle starts all over again.
Well a month and a half, then it'll be time to tap birch trees (maybe some sicamore this year), then dandelions, oak leaf, rose flower, nettle, etc
ooh, i'm getting excited already! Get your bottlejohns (http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,5112.msg63804.html#msg63804) ready ;D

Lets not forget what the frost does for our parsnips.

I have made ( a looong time ago) a Parsnip Oloroso ( its in C.J.J.B's Country Wine book which I'm sure you have).
After about 3 years it was delicious.

Problem is its like any vintage wine/port/sherry:
You taste it, give tastes to family and friends who say "This is great" and then realise: F**K it It will take me 5 years to re-create this.

Thats why i am after the WLP-700.

I would really like to get a solera going!.

PS: Must send you a bottle of my Vintage port (as the other major wine maker on this beer swilling site  ;))

@LE, if not done already, can you post the recipe for your nettle ale? The one you had at the meetup a few months back.

@ will - i'd be happy swap a bottle. but you'll probably put mine to shame. Mine are quite 'rustic' ;)

@john - I think it's already up. put 'nettle' in the searchbar.
I think I'll make a small batch of that again, but with a bit more thought...
Maybe swap it up change it to grain
