Just wondering who is putting what in their barrel, and the story so far:

Capital Brewers: 18E Belgian Dark Strong Ale
North County: 19C American Barleywine

@Tube. Not intentional but I'm on a mission to make Lambics the next hipster beer

Being lambic... the barrels destiny is sealed... Lambic next year...and the year after would make an uber-epic geueze

That's probably a really good idea. FWIW it does seem sour is the new hipster beer across the pond.

St. Fursey

That sounds like fun. We figured going the Lambic/Geueze route would be the best way to get our money's worth from the barrel

If anyone is interested in oak cubes, I can try to get a load pretty cheaply.

Refilling is only necessary if and when we empty. Consensus from last tasting was that it can wait a while yet. No consensus yet on what will go into the barrel 2nd time around. When we decide we will let you know.

+1 ours is getting better by the week, oak just starting to come through, tasted every 4 weeks, plans afoot for a refill already in play, cruel to cut down a tree half grown.

Sadly not, but it would be a shame to let the opportunity pass us by. An item for discussion at next week's meet for certain. Brewtus said he'll do a batch or two.

If you'd only tasted the SD barrel at the last meet, CH! Vastly superior to the cold sample we took straight out of the barrel at Shanna's gaff. Serious potential.

I would say we to fill it a 2nd time. I think Shiny and Rossa could be asked to come and help out again but at 20 litres and a lower strength beer.
