Hi,
I'm a first time brewer using a True Batch Brew Porter kit. Everything seemed to be going okay until yesterday it just started bubbling wildly!
I pitched the yeast on the 9th June and it seemed to be going okay. After a few days with the blow off tube I switched to the (sanitised) airlock. For fun I had taken a few counts of the bubbling: day 6 it was at 18 bubbles per minute, day 7 at 12 bubbles and day 8 at 4 bubbles. It then slowed to the point it wasn't really measurable. Yesterday (day 12) it was bubbling at 56 bubbles per minute!!
It was a surprisingly warm day yesterday and the cupboard it was in had reached 23 degrees Celsius. Could that explain it? Is the batch ruined do you think or is this normal? The smell has got a lot stronger too.
Thanks for your help.

Relax :). The warmer temp is letting the co2 that is in solution escape. Your beer should be grand.
Ha haa I love the newby question of counting the bubbles. Your hooked now that's for sure ;D
As said you can relax as all is fine :)

Totally hooked! 8)
Cool, thank you both for your replies. Should I try to cool it down at all? I assume I don't want the CO2 to come out of solution at this stage so I keep some fizz for later?
Try to keep it around the 20 C if you can. Next you will be scouring the free fridge recycling spots looking for a fridge to ferment it in :)
Meant to say welcome to the club, where are you based.
Thanks for the welcome :) I'm based in Bray.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
I've got the temperature down below 20 degrees and the mad bubbling has stopped now. Thanks guys.
