Title: Gambrinus Honey Malt
Post by: mcgrath on July 30, 2015, 10:54:17 AM
Hi,
I have seen this asked for in a few recipes. Has anyone used it? Any research I have put into it suggests there is no substitute. It's not available to buy here. I'd be interested to talk to someone who has tried it.
Cheers..

I think this is only available in Canada or the States.
From my research I think Melanodin Malt is the closest you can get.
I've used the Melanodin several times as a replacement for the Honey Malt.

Hi, I've also subbed with melanoiden but would like to do a comparison. I have a cousin coming to visit from Toronto next month, just wondering if it is worth getting him to bring some over. I assume he would have no problem with customs.

From some of the comments I have heard online about the Honey Malt I'd say it would be worth it.
It sounds lovely :)

Has anyone found a supplier this side of the pond for this since this was first posted? Need some for a recipe. Was going to substitute Melanoiden Malt, but apparently not at all alike.
