Hi there,
Was hoping somebody might have an unused/unloved/unwanted 2 litre & or .5 litre erlenmeyer flasks in the Dublin area that they would be willing to part with. My spare 2 litre flask imploded on me on Friday night & I am down to using my spare.

I have to ask but how did that happen ? I thought them yokes were damn nigh indestructable. :o
I have a 2L and a 3L going spare. I think I have 6 or 7 400ml beakers if they are any use.

Would take you up on the 2 litre and a couple of the 400ml beakers please.

When I say implode I went to pick it up and it literally separated in to two parts. I found a light crack in the glass at the bottom. I suspect the weight of the liquid in it was too much strain. I went to pick it up by the neck and the bottom of it stayed in place while I was left holding the neck & sides of the flask while simultaneously covering myself in luke warm vwp solution. Other half was not too impressed by the N
mess it made :(

Not my experience as I have broke two 2litres now & also two 500 ml. The slightest bang off a hard surface is enough to do it. Being Mr Bump also does not help. I stopped transferring them without bubble wrap after I broke the first two 500ml flasks but eventually things caught up on me.

Bummer.
Cracks/fractures on glass that's going to get heated and cooled is never good.

Yeah, the annoying thing is I never even use them to heat directly as I do the extract malt in a saucepan & transfer to a sterilised flask. Got to get myself some neoprene & make some padded covers.
