In an apartment now so no space for corny's :-(
Also don't feel like bottling. Considering I like maybe a pint or two at a time (not ten!), how do the mini kegs with a tap a draft hold up freshness carbonation wise?
They're pretty good in that respect. I found that after a few uses though I had a lot of problems with losing carbonation once they'd been tapped. Apparently this is common enough and can be sorted by disassembling the tap but that's not particularly easy to do. Otherwise though they're a reasonable option if you're stuck for space.
So they will hold carbonation the first few times? Will have to google dissembling the tap
Thinking out load, would you get a 10l corny into a mini fridge does anyone know?
I only just sold mine. They keep carved pretty well for about a month after you break the seal. Every time I'd take a drink, I'd just top top on co2 until it stopped dispensing, then turned it off again. Was dead handy in the fridge as well. I think I did a review of them with pics that you can see on the equipment section. I even compared bottle carbed vs the keg.
Thanks Colm, read you review with interest. Probably will go down the mini keg route. Though I do have all the disconnects tubing and taps for a corny (which means getting a 10 litre one is the same price) and I am tempted by that. If I could get one of those tabletop fridges to fit one I'd probably go that route, if I could get a tabletop to fit two I would definitely go that route!
Well if you have taps and disconnects, go the 10L keg route. You have better control of carb levels and the pour is easier to control with a proper tap. With a small fridge, that's a total winner!
Yeah, problem is getting the fridge interior dimensions. Probably natural carbonation and soda stream to serve.
My brother is using a 10L corny in a mini fridge and uses one of those CO2 chargers and naturally carbonates. Fits perfectly in a mini fridge. His is one of the mybeerandwine ones without the rubber surrounds.
Thanks Neill. Do you know the make by any chance, would you get a second one in there?
Definitely not in the mini fridge he had. I squeezed 6 bottles around the edges of it. There would not have been enough room on top of it either.
Dont over prime as they will bulge and maybe go bang. I had one buckle on the bottom. I heard it jump around in the cupboard one evening. I was lucky I got to it before it exploded and made a huge mess.
