Title: connection gas lines
Post by: Codonohoe on August 25, 2015, 10:32:28 AM
Hey guys,

I have just got into kegging and have run into some issues regarding gas line size. The barb attached to my regulator will accept a 3/8 (9.5mm) line but the barb on my disconnect is much smaller and the 3/8 line is too big to form a tight connection. I also have a length of 5/16 (8mm) line and this will fit onto the disconnect fine. How can i go about connecting the two different size lines? Is there anywhere in Dublin that will sell push fit fitting that would suit these line dimensions

cheers

Do they have a shop open to the public?

Small trade counter. Might be worth ringing to see if they have them in stock before heading out.

Just on gas and gas line.  Can you use the same tubing as your beer line to carry gas?

I had this exact same problem. I ended up going to a plumbing supply shop looking for the right parts, then they sent me onto a lawnmower repair shop who didn't have the right parts, but who were able to patch everything up for me using 5/16" line! I can't remember the exact name of the place, but it's in Rochestown in Dublin. I could find out for you if you want!

I am in dub city centre tomorrow night. I have some jg fittings that step up/down sizes but I'm not sure of the sizes. If your able to bring some of your line in to see if they fit I will bring them in.

Hope it is OK to post this here but the solution might be to get some threaded FFLs for your disconnects:

Probably Hills Hire. or in and around that little collection of outdoor/gardening type shops.

That's the one! I traded a couple bottles of brew for them to do all the attachments on my gas and beer lines. Gotta go back to them now so I can get the 4 keg setup going...
