There's a few new heads would like to say hello, so maybe have a meet.
Need to decide...
Location.
Date.
Time.
Agenda - brew days, beers, collab projects.
The Pizza is good and the talent is great but I'm not sure the arse end of the Fran well is the best place for meets.
Thoughts?
Do you want to try the hub?
I'll try to get in wherever we meet a long as Mrs Drum feels like driving that night.
The Linen Weaver (Wetherspoons) is supposed to be opening the first week of September?
House party after at dcalnans? :P
Do you think they will allow byob?
Let's have a sconce anyway
I meant at dcalnans, his new bar looks mighty tempting.
Where are all the rest of the Rebel crew?
FFS lads, spake up!
Put up some dates. Fridays tricky for me, as kids have swimming lessons, but can get someone else to take them if I give enough notice. Definitely up for a meet, as haven't been to one in ages.
Any day is fine with me.
Weekdays won't really work so its either Friday or Saturday.
I'll put dates up.
It seems to have gone very quiet on the Rebel front.
I'm keen to have a look at Wetherspoons ok but I'd say half of Cork will be as well, it'll be heaving. From what I remember of that place it wasn't exactly spacious(loads of levels though). I quiite like the Hub as a venue for a meet, decent selection of beer, plenty of seats and we can actually all hear each other but I'll go with whatever the popullar choice is. Same with the date, not too sure at the moment what dates suit but will do my best to make it along.
is there anything to be said for a few saturday/sunday afternoon pints/meet up? i have nothing drinkable at the moment
I've just swung the vote.
Aiming for 18th - let's go for The Hub
Objections below (then he locks the thread >:D )
I voted for the 11th, but can also do the 18th, so will we set 18th as the date?
In relation to location, I'm easy enough, but if going to the hub, we should check in advance that it's okay, as don't think any of us are regulars there. Personally I prefer the Well, but will go wherever, as long as we are welcome.
We were welcome in the Hub the last time we were there.
I'll call them now.
No answer.
021-4975774 - I think Francesca was the lady I was speaking to before.
They wouldn't be open for a while, it was my local when I was in college, they were very welcoming and offered their outdoor space for brewday if we wanted.
As a newbee to this forum can I come?
Newbies have VIP passes to HB meets, that's what the meets are there for!

Of course :)
For the benefit of new members, the etiquette at the meets is something like follows:
1. Go to the bar and buy yourself a drink. Try buy at least 2 or 3 drinks during the night so we're not flahing the pub's hospitality!
2. You'll spot the homebrewers group easy enough. Imagine a bunch of awkward beardy hippies with bags rattling full of bottles.
3. Go over and introduce yourself. They tend to be a friendly bunch.
4. We'll show you the initiation ritual on the night. You won't learn the secret handshake until night 2.
5. That's it :) Enjoy.
Start time is usually around 8:00 - 8:30.... Anytime really. It's not formal.
Bring along some of your homebrew for tasting if you've got it. About 2 pint bottles should do.
Did someone get through to the Hub, so that they know we are coming in?
I just tried the number above and its ringing out.
They only open at 4 today.
Balls. That's twice I tried.
Can you phone?
I tried again just now.
Ringing out.
Could try messaging their Facebook page.
Shag that.
I got Stephen.
Sorted for 8pm.
See you guys there!
anybody got some charred oak chips?
Would smoking oak chips be usable?
possibly..
Great meet last night lads, thanks to all who turned up.
Some super beers on tap in The Hub, delighted with Wicklow Wolf Elevation.
Some interesting homebrew also.
A great first brew from Skibeagle, and some Fortified 'Wine' from LE
