Title: Galway Bay annual Dublin booze cruise:
Post by: Hop Bomb on September 09, 2015, 07:37:11 PM
This is happening this Saturday at the brewery. Bus load of thirsty beer nerds coming for a tour, beer & bbq. If any of ye are about drop in. Should be a good laugh. Kicking off 1 or 2 pm.

Nice one lads.

@ Ronnie - Maybe we'll do a brew on my kit here for National Homebrew Week? Anyone who hasnt been here can get a tour & meet other members of the Galway Brewers. What ye reckon lads?

Or is it weird having a homebrew brew day on a homebrew kit in a commercial brewery?

Sounds good to me. Only brewing for a year, and active on this forum for 6 months, so this sounds ideal. Hopefully I can make it. Thanks

I'd haul my kit up too depending on the date!
Brew off!

Honestly I'm tied up for weeks, 17 of Oct is my ideal date!
I think the Homebrew week is 28/9-4/10.

Bought a Grainfather the other week - so could give it it's first run too if there's space in this brew off!

Sounds like a plan lads.

@Kev - It'd be great to do it during homebrew week. No way you can jig things around? We'd be done in 5 hours. It doesnt have to be a piss up like  ;)

I'm sure I could manage to fit something in! Could be time to brew my cal common again!
An earlier mash-in would suit me, maybe stagger the brews a little.
I'd have to be out the gap by about 5pm, so mash in from 11/11:30.
Is it a go from GBB?

Working on a date that suits work here.

How about everyone brews the same recipe. Kellerbier perhaps?

Il do decoction mash on my kit. Single infusion on yours Kev. Temp step mash on the grainfather.

We'll brew with same malts, ferment with the same yeast etc. Blind taste the results & see if we can spot any differences.

Use the best pilsner malt from HBW. Put it through its paces on three different brew kits.

What ye think?

Great idea, would give that best malt solid going over.

I should make any upcoming Saturday with enough notice. It's not likely I'll be available from 11am, but should be able to manage 3-4 onwards.

Kev if you're under pressure for time you could start things, and we could finish it between us if you're not done by 5?.. (watch him head out the door just before clean up time) :P

Depends on the date lads! It's just the 3rd that I'd have to be out the gap!

Any update on when this is happening? Heading over to HBW in the next few days, so can pick up the grain. Hop Bomb, will I just deliver it to you when I do?

No idea when this will happen. Hold on to the malt yourself & bring it on the day sure (whenever that is)
