I just filled a 6kg bottle last week and was carbonating a keg, when yesterday I noticed the tank was empty - gas leak :(
Disaster as I took a half day from work just to get to Bray before 5pm. I can't see any way of getting there during their opening hours as I work 9-5 in Naas too, so was wondering if anyone is heading that direction soon and I could meet up some evening to give you my keg?
Normally I'd say I'll give you a few bottles of brew as payment but it's all flat in the keg :D But I'm sure we can work something out!

Found my leak, it was on my quick disconnect in, I melted the leak shut with a soldering iron;

To test it put the fitting in water and when its connected to the keg put soapy water on it to see if it bubbles. :)

Thanks, I'll do this later to make sure I definitely sealed it up. Could I submerge the regulator while hooked up? Or would that do some damage to it?
Spray with Star san they will show up
The way to do a quick leak test on your pipework:
Turn on CO2 cylinder and set the regs to what you want (single/double or triple stages)
Note the readings on the low pressure gauges and also the high pressure gauge.
Then turn off the bottle and see how long the system holds pressure.
If more than 24 hours then no leaks
If less than 24 hours then you have a leak so use the soapy water test to try to find it.
If in doubt:
If you only drink at the weekends (sad B'stard I know) then turn off the gas bottle for mid-week!
If ypou only drink monthly (then why are you brewing >:D) then only turn on th egas when you need to drinbk!

Didn't want to pop a new topic for a silly question so I will stick it here.
Since AJ are out of tanks at the moment (rang them few weeks back and said they should have some by now, but called them back today with no luck) just wondering if these wouldn't be suitable for kegerator setup:

Just ask the seller if dip tube is removed, if so go for it.
Fire extinguisher valve might be pita tho :-\

If you only have a fire extinguiser:
1. Use it upside down! This negates the effect of the dip tube.
2. Fine control is achieved by using a tie wrap on the handle or better still a nut and bolt through the pair of "squeezy handles". This allows you to just crack open the valve and then the reg does its thing.
Like most CO2 set ups if you only dispense now and again turn off the bottle UNLESS you are really sure there are no leaks!
