1) Bittering
2) Aroma
3)Dual Purpose.
If you had to pick just three English hops under the categories above what would they be and why ? To be used exclusively for English Ales,IPA's,Brown Ales,Bitters,Milds etc. (you get the picture). 8)
I am about to dump some old pellet hops that have been around too long and going off my last couple brews and some friendly advice i now know they are well past usefullness as i have them now about two years(ekg and magnum). Since i will be brewing mostly English Ales,Stouts,Porters, for the next few brews i need to order in some hops. I don't want to make the same mistake as last time and order kilos of hops i will never use. ;D
Ekg, fuggles and magnum for me. That said, my IPAs go with American hopping, so don't know the best options there for you.
I agree with Molc on the first two, and I think Magnum is great, but isn't it German? If it is, then the third would be something like Progress.
Isn't that new experimental one from the UK? I forget it's name. Was 336 or something.
Yeah I cheated. Magnum is German, but so neutral that you can put it in anything without issue. Its my go-to bittering hop these days :)
Goldings, Fuggles (I use quite a bit in Stouts and Scotch ales) and Bramling Cross. Hate Bullion.

Isn't that the same thing as English ;D
I assume Goldings/EKG/Fuggles are all dual purpose then? Dunkel glad you suggested BC as i forgot how much i like that hop for flavour/aroma,and it is top of my list now for aroma category. ;D
