Title: Co2 regulator
Post by: revel_and_chaff on October 16, 2015, 11:48:47 AM
Has anybody got a single Co2 regulator that they would sell me? HBC seems to be all out...

All the best,

Ian

I bought one of these on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171755549365?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171755549365?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

and then replaced the pressure clock with this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131096752597?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131096752597?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

seems to do the trick for about £35 all in

Be very careful about changing an item as potentially dangerous as a gas regulator not intended for its original purpose and modding it

Yeah, I decided to get into kegging a little bit too late!

To be honest I wouldn't trust my own abilities modding something as potentially dangerous as this!

Did you get these from a website? Do they do secondary regulators too by any chance?

No English version there, but they don't have massive selection so you will be able to get around. Some stuff is cheaper, some isn't. I got stainless steel immersion chiller of them for 17e and the regulator. Seems like a good value. If you will have any questions let me know will try to help

Interesting..How much was postage to Ireland for the regulator?

That's the tricky part, they only accept bank transfer as payment (or cash in store) and they don't post abroad. I brought regulator myself last time I was back home (oh and I am originally from Lithuania). There are companies that deliver door to door and charge 15e for 15 kg. So I will be calling one of them soon.

I've seen that one around, I'm a little apprehensive as it mentioned welding when I googled it...let me know how you get on!

So the output gauge measures flow instead of pressure. After reading up on it I'm just going to box it up and send it back. Too much hassle for my first keg job. Went for the one in home brew west instead. Fair sting in the price but I suppose if your going to spend the money it may as well be on the instrument controlling the highly pressurised cylinder in the garage.

If its got a low pressure gauge (like it has in the picture) then its a low pressure gauge!
This just shows you what pressure you are putting onto a keg.

It is NOT a flow meter!

Flow meters are 4 or 5 inch long vertical tubes with a ball inside. They are calibrated in Litres per Minute for (usually) CO2 or Argon ('coz they are used for mig/tig welding where flow rate is important)

These will measure flow!

One user here swapped the second gauge out with one of these:

Compressed gas tanks and regs have potential to mutilate and even kill, we shouldn't really encourage messing around with them :(

The one piece of equipment I don't mess with is my regulator. It's connected to a wee bomb, even more so with mixed gas. I treat it nicely, pay its bills and it doesn't start taking any fingers... ;)
