Title: First brew
Post by: beire79 on October 19, 2015, 09:00:05 AM
I'm new to home brewing and am just looking for some advice!!I have a coopers mexican home brew kit I followed all the instructions and it is currently bubbling away. It's 5 days in now I'm just wondering how long to leave it and when to bottle it or if anyone had any tips would be greatly appreciated

I'd suggest leaving it for at least 2 weeks in total. Even though there might not be visible signs of fermentation, the yeast will still be cleaning up off-flavours (the byproducts of fermentation process). Patience is everything in brewing, and you'll be rewarded with a nicer beer.

It's really hard to do, but you learn to just leave it alone for 2 weeks to do its thing. The more you check and prod it, the more chances for something to go wrong.

Doesn't stop me lifting the lid every evening to see how it's getting on though :)

Hi and welcome to the site.

Have a look here:

and see if there is a local group near you. They can offer hands on help and advice to say nothing about tasting!

Hi there beire!
The mexican cerveza is aimed to be like Corona but it's not quite on the mark.
It's a refreshing beer, but just light and lacking on flavor depending on the recipe.
Coopers marketing guys brew this to 19liters for their tasters and it goes down quite well aparently.

but yeah, leave it alone for 2 weeks and then bottle :)
