Just wondering if the temps in november ok for fermenting lager. Im looking to do a brew on saturday, ferment it in my shed.
What do ye think.
All depends on the temp in your shed. Disclaimer; thats the first one that came up when I googled, No idea of quality/accuracy but thats the kind of thing i'd use to monitor temp remotely.
What temperature is you shed going to be? :P
Most traditional larger fermentation's are between 7C and 13C.
First you need to know what your yeasts range of optimal temperatures are. Then you must account for the rise in temp that an active fermentation will cause. Which can be as much as 3C.
My shed was 17C yesterday if I had an active fermentation raising the temp to 20c I could be well out of the yeast spec.
If there is going to be a big swing in temps you should look into swamp cooler.
Sit the fermenter into a water bath so temp swing takes longer to happen. Should be getting into lager fermentation temps in the next while.

That way you can check the temp inside the fermenation bucket & surrounding air temp .In fact i have one of these out the shed minus the probe .may jusy pick up one or two of these .
I`d also look at making a dedicated fermenation area within the shed .4x8 ft 2" insulating foam isnt much to buy ,but I`d go with the blue or pink stuff if you can get it in your area . That way you wont end up with millions of tiny white balls .Box cutter, straight edge, cocktail sticks & pva will do it for yer average bucket. You can put a lot more effort in but I`m thinking cheap and cheerful.
