Hi Just,
bought a Genuine Innovations keg charger and a pack of 5 replacement 16 gram bulbs with it to trying kegging before I get a tank/regulator etc..
The charger came with a threaded Co2 bulb but the pack of spares which came from the same site are un-threaded.
Anyone know if they are compatible?

Don't think so,as far as I remember you screw them in to break the seal at the neck. Unless there is a mechanism to close onto the opposite end of the bulb.
I was just about to buy one of these myself for dispensing from an already carbonated keg. Seems a bit odd that they'd sell replacement cartridges that don't fit the keg charger they're selling. Let us know if you get these to work mcooney.
i bought one , and still cant find anywhere selling the screw in co2 bulbs , waste of money imo. if anyone finds food grade screw in co2 bulbs let me know

Could possibly be food grade...I don't know though.
Tyre Co2 is definitely not food grade, it can up before.
Similar ones here:
https://www.tyreinflators.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=256
According to the product info they're all 100% co2. Wouldn't that make them food grade? (Open to correction coz I don't really know what in talking about

)
C02 needs to be scrubbed to make it food grade, that's not the issue here though.
It came up on Jims before, the tyre inflation bulbs aren't suitable.
There is a oil they use in cheaper Bulbs in the the forming rolling on the side and lid of the bulb which is fine for tyres but not unless you want it in your beer...
The food grade ones are more expensive as I believe they use a slightly different metal to allow them to be formed without the oil.
It's nothing to do with the contents it's the process.
I have one of those things with the correct bulbs and they are less that useless, far better off with a little 2 kg tank and a cheap reg
Well that's a bummer, thanks for clearing it up though. The setup I have only holds two kegs in the fridge so I was hoping to stick a couple of spare kegs outside the back door at Christmas and use one of these to help dispense the beer.
Still wonder why HBW are selling the charger and non compatible bulbs. Seems like a few people have wasted a few quid on these already.

I seem to remember a video on youtube where someone used these ;D
After doing a bit of Googling I think these might work. I'm down to brew the beer to fill it next weekend but I'll probably try one during the week and post here how I get on. I think the plastic sleeve fits well enough to keep a good seal.
I also have one of those keg chargers and like you cannot find food grade screw top 16gr bulbs anywhere. :'(

Bit lost here Richie, see OP. These are Brouwland products and we stock replacement bulbs for them:
http://www.homebrewwest.ie/co2-cartridges-for-keg-charger-5-pcs-2174-p.asp
and
http://www.homebrewwest.ie/keg-charger-plus-co2-cartridge-1820-p.asp
same as:

mcooney, did you buy these from an authorized Brouwland agent? If you're not sure, check:

for Ireland and

for the UK.
If its us, we'll sort it out . . . just PM me an order number.

Fair play Brian, cant ask for more than that.
Just wondering, Have you tryed the keg charger with the replacement bulbs ye sell? I've been thinking about getting one aswell, as a cheaper alternative to co2 tanks just to get started in kegging.
I'd be a bit confused myself Brian. Even on both those links you posted the replacement Co2 cartridges are different. You can clearly see the cartridge included with the charger is threaded but on both your site and brouwlands the replacement cartridges are smooth not threaded?
Hi Brian,
Thanks for replying. I bought them directly from your site directly from the link about (piggybacked on a friends order to save postage).
I can try them out first before returning, they may well work from what I reading online...
Hi Brian, apologies if I jumped the gun but I assumed the replacements in your link weren't compatible as they're not threaded. As others have already said, they bought the charger and they're having difficulty in finding threaded replacement cartridges. If anyone can confirm the the replacements actually do work, I'd be happy to buy some. Cheers, Richie
I tested the un-threaded spare bulbs and they seem to work ok.
Just make sure to tighten the plastic outer holder well.
Is the out part of the charger supposed to fit directly onto the gas disconnect?
Is there an adapter I need?
That's a barbed disconnect you need to get a threaded disconnect, like this http://www.homebrewwest.ie/ball-lock-disconnect-co2-for-soda-keg-2221-p.asp (http://www.homebrewwest.ie/ball-lock-disconnect-co2-for-soda-keg-2221-p.asp)
Perfect thanks.
my keg charger charger came from mybeerandwine , iv tryed youngs and brewferm 16g bulbs and cant get either to fit .
brian if you can stock the screw in ones we will buy them
