Hi guys,
I brewed this stout 15 days ago using Wyeast 1084 (I didn't make a starter). Anyway on Friday I checked the gravity and it was 1022. I decided to move my fermenter to a warmer room but the gravity hasn't changed at all. Where the beer was fermenting originally the ambient temperature would have been constant but maybe on the low side.
So I am just wondering should I bottle today or give it another while?
Cheers
This is a higher finishing gravity style and if all processes were followed then it should have dropped a few more points but if it has stopped then it has stopped. Taste it and if you are happy that it is not too sweet go ahead and bottle. Watch for bottle bombs though ;)
Thanks Dempsey. Ya def afraid of bottle bombs. It tastes pretty good, not that sweet. I could wait another wk but I'm not sure it's going to kick on again.
rouse the yeast and raise the temp for a few more days and see if you can get a few more points.
Cheers. Ya I will do that and give it a few days. Thanks
When bottling always fill a 500 ml Lucozade bottle as well. That way you can look and feel whats going on in the glassware!
Why Lucozade? Coz they are twice as thick as any other 500 ml Pet bottle and can stand the pressure as well as glass.
"Ballygowan Bottle Bomb" hardly seems frightening now does it?
Thanks Will, I will use a Lucozade bottle. The gravity had moved a point when I checked this morning, so hopefully it is back on track.
This finished out at 1020. Moved two points in a few days after I moved it somewhere warmer. It's time to invest in fermentation control I think!
