Now I have a spare wheelie bin that is getting in the way and I am going to get rid of it.... ,but,...., however,..... ,a thought came upon me >:D what if I was to get out the jigsaw and a few tools and a bit of timber make a 2 keg and gas bottle mobile kegerator :) :). :) Does this sound like a plan ???. All suggestions welcome :)

I have two compost bins, so I have no need of it .In fact I tried to tell the dudes who left it off that i didn't need it but....
Dempsey, what about insulation? Or is it self-cooling? 8)

EU laws coming in saying everyone has to have a brown bin in the next few years. I guess the theory is you'll need somewhere for the likes of cooked food and bones that you can't generally compost. The reality of course is that you'll never put the bin out but that's bureaucracy.

Some foil bubble insulation & tape inside.Then some bags/bottles of ice to bring the temp down ? You could use extruded blue or pink foam ,but you`d be cutting down the room inside the bin.B&Q sell the foil bubble insulation, or so i was told recently at the local builders yard .Some squares of extruded foam in the bottom may not be a bad idea .It would give the kegs something soft to sit on & stop them getting rattled about as much any time you move the bin.Also make getting the stuff in and out of the bin easier esp if you are very tall . As it would bring everything up off the bottom a little.
May also be an idea to put a drain tap at the bottom just in case .
Aye man totally understand .If they were to gather a load of green waste, compost it and then sell it back to the public cheap. I`d be there looking a load of it . But it just seems pointless giving it to somebody who`l never use it . Know a few people who are glad to have an extra bin for stuff like that . To me things just lumber I`d rather be shot of .

My understanding is that if you don't have a brown bin, you have to prove that you have another means of disposal of food water, Insinkerator etc.
Pepin, how would you manage with the kegerator outside in the summer? This looks like a sort of a hack I could manage as I live in a flat with a balcony and it's the only place I can put kegs realistically.
It's an easy enough conversion but you need to fill with ice to keep cook. Perfect for bbqs though.

I know nothing about kegs man sorry .I`m not sure its something you`d want sitting outside for any length of time.It would be very hard to keep it at anything like a steady temp .Grand for a BBQ or having a few friends round on a nice day .
I`d hunt about but since people love to mode stuff & work round space issues .So I`m sure somebody out there has built something to suit your needs .

I wouldn't bother insulating it, just throw a few bags of ice in after the kegs and gas.
a drain tap/plug would be a nice addition alright.

How about a dog or cat instead!! I assume the contents of the brown bin would go to anaerobic digester somewhere. They usually produce biogas that can be used to produce electricity. Seems to remember seeing a residential anaerobic unit that that was fed on kitchen waste.
