Folks, as a special pre-BrewCon treat we are hosting a Leann Folláin tasting event in upstairs Against the Grain on Thursday 21st April at 7pm. Gordon Strong will be joined by Conor Donoghue, Head Brewer at O'Hara's where Gordon will lead a guided tasting and himself and Conor will then discuss recipe formulation and how to brew a good Irish Export Stout. Aside from this it will also be a good opportunity to share a drink with Gordon before BrewCon.
The cost will be €8 and this will include a pint of Leann Folláin. If you would like to attend please post in this thread and transfer €8 over to the club Paypal account. Numbers will also have to be capped at 20 to keep it nice and intimate (not in that way ???) .

10. CH Can't believe more Capital punters aren't going for this are you saving your "on the tear points" for brewcon?
Capital have a meetup the evening before
I would love to come to this but I have the IBD exam in a couple of weeks.
Is there any facility to record the talk? I think it would be a great resource for the members who can't travel.
Cheers.
Seán
You won't hear anything over the bawdy chanting and fist fights
There is a brewing demo in TOG on the same night, otherwise I would be there.
Is yer man going over the recipe?
Out of the country, Otherwise I'd be there...
A recording of it would be good!

Beer Gods conspiring that you and I don't resolve the worlds problems over a pint.
Thats a lot of Leann Follain for just 14 but I'm sure we will struggle on, does anybody else want to come along?
There are no beer gods, only godly beers. Sure we can have a chat at Brewcon if we're still compos mentis after the talks
Whats th eeasiest way for an Auld Welsh person to get from the Dart to AG?
Taxi from Connolly?
Is it on a bus route - if so from where?
Seriously tho' looking forward to th enext few days of this week!
It's a lovely walk, otherwise just grab a taxi.
There are buses from O Connell street and the guys as well I think. Another option is to get the kids to Jervis and walk from there.

Jesus I thought they had banned child labour, try taking luas instead ;-) Not sure I would call that stretch of inner city Dublin a lovely walk.

:D I've an image of a child driven tuk tuk now. Guess after spending 10 years walking around Limerick, Dublin inner city is bliss ;)
That said, probably best to walk from Pearse all things considered...
15 goes up that was as far as I know.

Bus from De North side to City centre around Trinners might be best. Hope the 10 years was not entirely wasted? Was the 10 year stretch in Mulgrave street or Castle Troy?
Shanna
It's a grand walk! But yeah you'd be better off getting off at Pearse and cutting across the city on to Georges St and up to ATG or else up Grafton St to Stephen's green and across to Aungier St and onto ATG. ;)
Well Fekkit again, Its a taxi for me so- Fekk the inheritance it's SKI'ng for me!

Ok folks all looking good for this evening.
There will be a BJCP chat and scoring of a beer with Gordon at 7 sharp
The LeannFollain will start at 8pm.
Those going to the BJCP need to be there at 7 sharp as we are going to score a beer first (Schwarzbier) and then have a chat.
James
Gordon told us about how Leann Follain influenced the current style guidelines

What a great night! Many thanks to all who organised this.
I promise not to divulge the secrets of the Leann Follain recipe.
Hope everyone had a good night! Was lots of fun and learnt a few things about stout and Irish red brewing too.
Any info/pointers to add to this LeAnn Follain request? ;)
