Title: Hooking up a CTX25 to a corny
Post by: cunnol on April 25, 2016, 04:49:32 PM
Picked up a CTX25 the other day and am a bit lost when it comes to the tubing I need to get beer in from the keg and out to a tap.

I know the OD of the CTX connections is 3/8". Thing is most places I've read say 3/16" is best for beer lines due to the resistance.

I've currently got this picnic tap and am thinking it may be useless due to the line diameter

Anybody have any advice on what beer line, john guest fittings and tap (and possible a new corny keg disconnect....) I should use before I tear my hair out?!

Just use the same beer line you're using now and get the right JG fittings to match the cooler

3/8 is standard, smaller 5/16 normally for stout, crank back on the pressure in the keg for serving or use a tap with a restrictor valve on side.
You can use longer lengths of narrower line to achieve same effect but just a waste of beer.

I thought the narrower the tube got the shorter it needed to be?

As it happens I've just realised the tube I use to siphon has an inside diameter of 3/8 so I can snip bits off that to use as a substitute for the JG adaptor while I'm figuring this out.

Your options are
long 5/16ths line standard open tap(like a picnic tap)
Short 3/8ths line, tap with a flow control on the side
Title: SmartPID

It's a few months that I was no more active on this thread..but this not mean I have stopped my interest in home brewing and automation

In the last year I have invested lot of time, effort and money in a new brewing automation project and I have design and engineered a new smart and advanced product called SmartPID that I'm very happy to introduce to you.

The product is so advanced and feature rich there is nothing comparable on the market..in the same size of basic STC1000 thermostat I have inserted all you need for your brewing process, fermentation control or any other custom application !

But the great step head is that SmartPID is a real product engineering tested, certified with all characteristic for mass production. No more DIY unsupported kit but a long life-cycle platform powerful, flexible, programmable and SMART. Are you ready to do the upgrade? Just remove your simple thermostat or DIY solution and plug a smart process controller.

I leave you to discover all the features and functions and technical characteristic on the official website http://smartpid.com (http://smartpid.com) and FB page https://www.facebook.com/smartPID (https://www.facebook.com/smartPID)  and  I will open as well an official SmartPID thread

I hope you appreciate the big effort put in the design by an homebrewer for the homebrewing community and you support the project as you did for ardbir

Stay tuned
Davide

Davide we know all about it, so no need to cut and paste your standard pitch all over the forum, I look forward to the commercial product and timing is great for Santa Claus!
