Title: Heino
Post by: Dunkel on April 30, 2016, 12:27:11 PM
Heineken will be introducing their new beer next month - Heineken Light. At 3.0%, can't wait to try this  ??? And no, it's not an April Fool's thing, although it should be.

I saw the tap in the old school house a few weeks back and had to do a double take on it. Couldn't bring myself to try it.

Think Coors light....heino lost the licence (Molson Coors now brewing it themselves)to brew it here so me thinks this is there version...

Good move.  I always though heino was a bit too flavory.

There was a chap in Supervalu Raheny giving out free bottles of this stuff. In a little box and all, I passed on the offer. No doubt it would good for dry-hop testing.

Any idea if it would be a good beer for spiking with sensory session capsules?

I had four cans of Punk in my hand at the time  :P

@Andrew I'd imagine so, it's 3% though it apparently uses Cascade to some extent.

Guinness mid-strength. Forgot about that. Do they still sell it?

Still available in cans up north anyway. I think golf courses tend to be the few stockists of midstrength on draught.

Yeh it was a golf course where I saw it. Never seen it in cans though

I was in a pub in the sticks and they call it five-and-drive

When we had mid-strength in the club we gave 3 or 4 pints to the usual suspects (ie. G_full strength drinkers) and they didn't notice the difference!!

We also failed to refund the slight price differential >:D

caved to curiosity on this. they don't seem to sell them individually so had to get 4 cans.
this piss makes normal heino seem like real beer in comparison.
it's thin, fairly bland & flavorless. waste of time and money.

Save it for off flavour base

Will_D you know the policy of a successful bean counter is not to go from 6% to 2.8% but to apply the method of how to boil a frog. If you put a frog in hot water he will jump out but if you put him in cool water and slowly raised the temperature he will not move until it's too late. Conclusion is we are just frogs. :D

In my very early career I used to work in a lab and had access to liquid nitrogen ....and frogs, the latter was unofficially

Speaking of which

I'm guessing it's cheaper because of the lower abv right?
