Title: Water filter advice
Post by: nigel_c on May 10, 2016, 02:13:31 PM
I'm happy with my water overall but i'd like to run it through a filter before it reaches the kettle. Anyone got tried and tested ones they'd be happy posting a link to?
I'm not looking for a RO system (yet  ;)) I just want to filter as much out as I can .

I'm thinking something like this.... http://www.amazon.com/Capacity-Universal-Inline-Fridge-Icemaker/dp/B00UC616V4/ref=pd_sim_60_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=41SqgU4nUKL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0YEQG14KVMS6SQAPDTBX

or

All recommendations welcome.

I'd probably go with the one on Amazon as it's activated charcoal. Can't really tell what the woodies one is. FYI Kinnegar use activated charcoal and don't RO

I got a various mix of filters from the below fella on Ebay. He's based in Ireland, sound to deal with, and was way cheaper to buy off than any of the local places I checked, such as woodies.

I have an to system under sink and now get the replacement filters from the Waterfiltermen .they are based in Dundalk. They are really good to deal with. They probably have something that would suit.

I use the Woodies "ProPlumb" with the sediment/charcoal filter. They also do just a carbon filter (more expensive)

What effect does the woodies one have on the water? I.e., what will be left in the water in comparison to RO.

The carbon filer removes Chlorine and Chloramines - period

If there's a sediment filter component then it removes guess what!

Cool, so a Camden tablet does the equivalent job.

Will, just out of interest how to do you feed the water into the filter? Do you have a tap in your kitchen with a screw fitting on it? What pipe do you connect from the water to the filter?

Woodies also do some tap connectors that clamp over the kitchen sink.

If its a nice day I can also use the garden tap (as its straight of the mains)

The Proplumb filter is fitted with two hoselock connectors.

If you want pop round for a look.

I think I'm going to pick up one of them next time I'm passing.
