I've been meaning to try make one of these for a while and puled my finger out yesterday after inviting people over for a bbq with the prospect of lovely beer.
Equipment used:
3/8" tube
2 grommets
1 empty jar of lidl sun dried tomatoes
1 hop bag
1 small elastic
1 beer tap
1 beer disconnect
Steps
- Drill the lid of the jar just big enough so the grommets were a tight fit.
- Cut the beer line in about 1.5m lengths(this was a guess) and push them through the grommets, they should be tight enough to make a seal.
- Cut a piece of the hop bag and wrap it around the out tube and secure it with an elastic.
- The out tube is about 30mm from the lid and the in tube is about 30mm from the bottom, i had the in tube lower but ran into some flow issues that were resolved once i moved it up a bit.
- Add 25grm of leaf hops, i used cascade, this was as much as i could fit into the jar and leave enough space for beer
- Stick it all together and run a few glasses through to get it going and let the hops settle.
Learnings: the beer that comes through has a bit of extra foam but the results are worth it and everyone at the bbq loved it.

That's great. How did it compare to the beer without the Randall?
