Just remember you want the keg skirt to sit on the burner, if you go for the cast iron ones the keg skirt is too wide thus it sits on the dome part of the keg....not good.

Hi Keith,

I just did my first BIAB in my keggle yesterday, all went well apart from overshooting my mash temp a little. Probably should have turned off the gas when it said 60 or 65 Degrees. I got this bag http://brewinabag.co.uk/en/biab-bags/9-biab-bag-for-pots-up-to-45cm-diameter-0756406310853.html for about €30 and it is brilliant!

Happy Brewing!

Edit: Also, Ikea sell 34cm lids for €7.50 and stainers that look like they could hold a 6kg or 7kg bag of grain.

I picked up this burner from Hamilton gas for about €40 including delivery. It's 7.5kw
http://gasproducts.co.uk/outdoor-living/boiling-rings-and-gas-burners/large-square-gas-boiling-ring.html

It's 40cm wide so slightly bigger than the skirt of the keg. I was really happy happy and no issues with it. It took roughly 45 mins to get 33L to 70 Degrees and about 30 mins or more to get up to a rolling boil. My whole brewday took me about 7 hours including a 90 minute mash and cleanup.

What was your boil off percentage. I find them to be mega with the boil off

I had no way of measuring volumes (apart from the start of the mash and what went into the fermenter). Hopefully the fittings for my sight-glass will arrive tomorrow and I can do another brew. I started with 33L for the mash (no sparging) and ended with 19L in the fermenter + about 3L or 4L left in the boil kettle. As soon as I get the the sighglass fitted I can start measuring actual volumes and efficiency.

Jay.  I use a graduated stick do measure the volume.

I have never used a sight glass, but I could imagine they are a pain to clean after a long brew day.

hope you don't put your stick in once shes below 69 ;)
you just swill with water, after 5-10 they start to stain but then you just have a sight glass brush and good as new.
Lots of guys in US using silicone tubing and just replacing after it becomes crudded up.

Mine is Polycarbonate and is still crystal clear. I have a brush I use every couple of brews.

In relation to the burner, I got the below one, and very happy with it. It's a bit more expensive because of the flame failure device, but essential for me, as I brew just inside the door of my shed, as often too windy to brew outside.

Is brewing with bottled gas not very expensive compared with using electrons? You'd need a standby cylinder as well.
