Title: Stc 1000 query
Post by: Eccipoo on July 11, 2016, 09:01:02 PM
Hi folks, I've just wired up my stc and I'm coming across a bit an annoying problem. Before I start, it is definitely wired up right, functions have all been set up to desired degrees, compressor time etc etc

The flashing light will not go off beside the cooling label. I've cooled the sensor to check if my 60w tubular Heater will come on.....no problem, stc does its job on that front

However, when it heats back up to the temp for the fridge to kick in? Nope, fridge doesn't turn on, and flashing light comes on.

Kept it on for 20 mins to see if it might be a compressor related type problem, even though I have that set for 3mins. No joy. Turned it off and back on, waited.....no joy

Any help appreciated.

There is a delay set to preserve the compressor getting shot on the fridge.
The flashing light besides the cooling means it's on the timer and waiting to cool.
Put stc probe in 60 degree water and it should come on straight away.

Yes, compressor time (F3) is set at 3mins and still not coming on

Can you hear it clicking? Could be a shot relay.
Pics of unit (some are only hearing it cooling not both)

and wiring you've done next pls (you may have blown the relay)

I can hear it clicking for the for the heater but not for the fridge

Changed the settings for the compressor to 1 minute now. First time the fridge came on this time.....for a split second.....then it switched off as did the stc....which now won't come back on....at all

No, I've plugged it in and out a few times and done exactly that, opened the housing and smelt around. No smells or signs of smoke

No sir, 220v

I had 4 of them just blow. Have a surge protector on the fridge unit now and it's holding.

Getting 240v + surges?
Elitech are the brands I got from ebay
Consider one you can flash somebody posted about them recently, if you can flash or get them flashed it will allow you do a whole lot more on fermentation.

Just touching base on this again

I ordered an elitech version of this today....and forgot to check the power on it. Which on the description on Amazon is reading 110v

I take it the 110's too low?

Not a lecce is me but the STC has a 10 amp rating and so any surge will cause it to blow hence I have had some last for years and some only weeks. Was recommended a surge protector and so far no more blow outs 8)

10Amp is for the Output so you couldn't put a kettle element on it 13A but could do a fridge 2-3A.
Clearly get more than you moneys worth from your electricity supplier there Mr D Can you post a pic of your surge protector?
Is it like the ones you get in extension leads?

To any of the lads that gave me some info thanks a million. Inkbird stc arrived today, wired up and all workin great

Had a feelin it was definitely a faulty stc previously.

very excited about this, it was the last piece in my all grain set up puzzle that's taken the best part of 3 years. First all grain brew will be literally weeks
