Hi. I'm a fraction away from sorting out my next steps in ag brewing. So far I've been putting the f.v into a giant plant pit with shower hose and and saying a prayer or two and refilling every 12 hours and ending up with all the fusel alcohols I deserve.! Oh and I also bottle !!!! And dried yeast rehydrated.
Now I've acquired corny kegs (borrowed....) and an old fridge they'll fit in and gas so I just need to hook it all up and get going but before all that I need to get my temps down so I'm gonna pick up an inkbird. There are 3 options from geterbrewed I've no idea the difference and whether I'll regret tge cheapest option? Also I'm assuming I don't need any kind of heating plugged in as the fridge should just cut out when too warm? I've an Erlenmeyer on the way but no stir plate. Can I get away with just manually Sturring as I walk by it? Any other things I'm forgetting? Ty. It's new to me so pls don't assume I have a single clue.

1. The cheapest inkbird will do hot and cold. This will do just fine. The other models can be programmed to step heat or chill, eg 2 days at X temp etc
2. You need a heat source, if your fv is chilled too much you need to raise the temp.
3. You need a stir plate and stir bar. Stirring with a spoon won't do the job and you risk infections. Building a stir plate is very easy, there is a good how to guide in the forum.

And now they have a wifi model in the US with an Apple app, tsk tsk tsk you modern homebrewers have it all in my day etc ...but we were happy

I think Geterbrewed do a programmable one (ITC-310?) which might be good for inputting a fermentation schedule.
But yeah ITC-308 is the one I have. I prefer it over my homewired STC1000 efforts. It's nice and solid and compact.

Hi Lads,
I will be purchasing a 308 myself soon as i have a large fridge in my shed which i will be using as a fermentation chamber, my question is: what is my best source of heat for this? I have a brew belt that i have never used, would this be sufficient enough around a FV?
