Title: Mad keg
Post by: banjobrew on July 24, 2016, 10:06:52 PM
Madness: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something different.

I've been pouring pints from the keg now for half a year with no problems me now I'm getting foam!

I've a corny keg and a CO2 supply with a length of 3/16 beer line which has been pouring perfect pints for the last six months. I'm 2/3 the way through this keg and I haven't changed a thing and all of a sudden I'm getting half foam!

Temp: 8C
2m 3/16 beer line
12psi (the lines are balanced)

I can't get my head around it. Could there be grain in the dip tube? Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

Could you have left the co2 on and carbonated it some more?

Could be a some hop particle that has gotten stuck in the tube, quick disconnect or in the tap itself. That would cause enough friction to cause foam.

I always leave it on and I've left it for much longer than this time. It shouldn't over carb. It doesn't taste over carbonated either.

I'm convinced it's something stuck somewhere. It would explain the sudden foaming.

Swap gas line depressurise your keg and blow co2 down your out. Not too long mind or you'll strip hop profile

I'd say there's definitely something stuck in there....

SOLVED: So I took the advice of CH and put the CO2 down the out. It was yeast matter built up because I kegged too soon and there was obviously too much sediment at the bottom of the keg.

Pouring nice (albeit now very cloudy) pints again!

Thanks CH!
