Title: Cornelius maxi 310 cooler

I have a cornelius maxi 310 cooler which ive had for years and never really used, i pulgged it in and filled it with water yesterday.
Im wondering how long should it take for the stat to kick in. Or are they ment to run like this?

Just took a temp of the water bath and its 5 degrees C.
Thought it would be a lot closer to 0.

They are designed to be switched on an hour before use, and made of bricks so I'd be surprised if it was knackered, using it for chilling your wort? ;)

Chilling wort, Did'nt think of that  ;)
i thought they would switch off after a while. Main thing is that its cooling , the cold water out of the tap is nearly 17 degrees.
