Title: National Homebrew Day
Post by: admin on November 09, 2012, 02:15:58 PM
This is really something that came from Rossa, but we bounced it around a bit last night.

Not sure what exactly it would entail or when it be, but one of the ideas is that we have a mini homebrew competition, or a group brew along the lines of the IHP (http://www.fuggled.net/p/ihp-2012.html).

Two possible dates are the Sunday of the Irish Craft Beer Festival in the RDS, or maybe we could do a tie-in with the American Homebrews Association who have an absolutely massive National Homebrew Day (http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/aha-events/national-homebrew-day/) on the first weekend in May.

I think it's a great idea, and something we should pursue.

Thoughts?

EDIT 06/08/14 Aha link broken

The Sunday of the beer festival would be good from a marketing point of view but the dates change every year no?

Personally I think its a great idea - I'd favour linking up with the US natnioal day on this one - perhaps organise some demos etc.

I'm all for a national homebrew day, May wouldn't be a bad time, 3 months after the main event, if we could have something each quarter it would be great!

Yeah the quarter thing is good. If people brew in May they could enter it in September if they had any left or at least we can plug the September event while we are at it.
