Title: Stir Plates and Flasks
Post by: Qs on August 23, 2016, 01:53:47 PM
I want to get a stir plate and flask as I'm currently just shaking a demijohn every now and then for my starters.

I'm looking at one of the stir plates from there guys here here (http://www.ebay.ie/sch/brewsci/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=). The difference in the 2 plates is that the cheaper one can do 2L of starter and the more expensive can do 5L. So I'm wondering if I really need a 5L flask or will 2L do? I'll probably want to do the occasional lager so is the 5L flask essential?

Also where can you get 5L flasks?

Get the bigger. You can boil about 3L of wort in a 5L without a boilover. You'd be doing well to do the same with 750ml in a 2L flask.

I was gonna make one but everyone is asking me if I want any homebrew stuff for my birthday so I'm gonna be lazy and just get them to buy me one.  :P
