Will the bit with the external thread twist off from the next metal piece?

There is a John Guest fitting that will screw onto the thread (could be 5/8" thread to 3/8" tubing? - not sure on 5/8" bit, the way they measure thread diameters is a bit wierd):

I can take it apart, but the whole flow control system goes from front to back along the whole shank.

Any idea on the external thread?

That looks similar to mine, should be ok (good aul Lidl);

Outer diameter of thread

Inner diameter of thread

Depth of end of threaded insert, e.g. How far you can screw it onto tap

Looking at this BSP thread chart (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Pipe), it looks like it's 5/8" - need WillD or other eng people to confirm

If so then JG would be similar to this (http://www.johnguest.com/product/inch-size-threaded-fittings/female-adaptor-bsp-thread-flat-end/) - afraid I can find exact part no of mine,

PI451215FS for 3/8" beer line
PI451015FS for 5/16" beer line

You really need to measure over the threaded end of the tap.

Here are the BSP specs for the Male thread:

Series   Nominal Size   Major Dia in   Major Dia mm   Pitch tpi   Pitch mm
BS Pipe   G 1/16   0.30400   7.72160   28   0.9071
BS Pipe   G 1/8   0.38300   9.72820   28   0.9071
BS Pipe   G 1/4   0.51800   13.15720   19   1.3368
BS Pipe   G 3/8   0.65600   16.66240   19   1.3368
BS Pipe   G 1/2   0.82500   20.95500   14   1.8143
BS Pipe   G 5/8   0.9020   22.91080   14   1.8143
BS Pipe   G 3/4   1.04100   26.44140   14   1.8143
BS Pipe   G 1   1.30900   33.24860   11   2.3091

Major diameter id the diameter over the threads.

Sounds like its 5/8 Bsp and yes JG make those two sizes.
