Title: Fermentation chamber-mash insulator
Post by: Mudder on November 04, 2016, 06:09:35 PM
Mad notion of the week time. :-\
Could you put a mash tum into a fermentation chamber that was pre heated to say 65°C and maintain you mash temp this way as an alternative to insulation, etc. It should work in theory if the heater in the chamber is powerful enough. Can anyone see draw backs to this approach.

I know some people do this with a stainless pot and a preheated oven. Seems to work fine.

I mash in a 20L cauldron and then stick it in the oven. Works like a charm, but I'm only doing half size batches.
