Title: Double batch, temp question
Post by: Gugs44 on November 10, 2016, 09:59:53 AM
Alright lads? I am doing a stout and whitbier this weekend and both will be in my fermentation chamber, the recipe calls for 22c for the wit recipe for fermenting but my stout I want to keep at 19. As I have never done a wit before could I just keep both at 19c? The yeast I am using is WB-06 and Safale US-05 for my stout.

Cheers

Do you have a heater in the chamber? You could put the wit closer to that and attach the probe to it

With the weather the way it is at the moment the stout would be grand left at room temp.

I have indeed, my set up is a tall fridge that can hold 2 FV''s, I have a 45w tube heater that will sit at the back of the fridge and holes drilled in a make shift shelf above for the heat to circulate some bit, I was actually wondering which one to strap the probe on to but that answers that.

Thanks

Cheers Nigel-C,

That is true but at last I have the means to control my temps so I want to see the improvements it can/might make to my beers.

I am sure the wit should be ok as the temp range is still within range for the yeast i am using
