That price from the UK isn't too bad if you're worried about import duty, considering if you only wanted one (not 24) they're pricier...

Unless you want ten :P

Yeah now factor in postage form china and also the fact that you will have some sort of European guarantee if something goes wrong and you won't have to wait 2 months for it to arrived and I think the pump in the OP is great value. price a march or a Chugger!

These are 12 gbp dearer than a topsflo ts5 12v on brewbuilder

Yeah - thanks for the review, Darren.
I have the Topsflo TL-B10H-B12-0905, which is a great little pump, but its impeller is closed, and probably not really suitable for brewing - too easy to block up. I also found that it would lock up due to overheating. Nothing worse than a pump going AWOL in the middle of a brew. Great for moving water - I'll keep it for that job.
I just bought a TS5 from brewbuilder. Very similar impeller to the Brew-Pump-3000. Mark from brewbuilder was kind enough to take one apart and send me a photo of the impeller. Much better job than the smaller Topsflo. The impeller will handle bits of grain or hot/cold break easily. More than enough power for mashing. You could get a whirlpool going with it too, but at 11.5L/min and 3 metre head, it's not going to beat a chugger. I kinda like the fact that it's 12V. I can use a variable PSU to power it, and it's one less thing to kill me on brewday! As soon as I get to use it, I'll post some more comments about how it behaves.

Yeah I had a ts5 from brewbuilder and burnt it out, ran dry for a couple of seconds and that was the end of it. Tried the bridgewater and that clogged very easy, only suitable for liquid transfer. Got tired of Solars and got a chugger and haven't looked back, I think mains powered pumps are more robust imho. At the time I bought the chugger I was looking for a pump similar to the 3000 but couldn't find one in Europe.

The ts5 is magnetic drive so you can control flow from a ball valve on the outlet, no need for a variable speed psu

Does it smell like you burnt it out you sure it's not just grain or leaf stuck or tripped from heat
can you run it with head off
Although it's only 12v did you use his psu or How many amps did you run through it?
Let him know he stands over his stuff
