Hi Conor,

Can't make it this week, any chance we could delay it till the 1st of December? If not then no worries.

Twas a fine collaboration! I could see the gears I'm your head working away making notes as we sat and stared at the kit working away. :)

Will be interesting to see what an early sample is like. It needs cold conditioning for sure to round off all those edges still.

Next time, we're doing one of your recipes :) Oh or one of Conors! Try to brew another Brewers recipe and see how it works out!

Guess I'll bring along the dipa for CH as well, so he can find the right bar of soap this Christmas :D

Sure maybe do an amber the next time around. Will be interesting to see what if any difference the stainless fermenter and or hop dry hopper makes to the process also. Have recently fixed the water volumes and added detachable temperature probes so some of the insanity observed previouly in my setup is gone. Going to try all of the new changes including the first use of the stainless fermenter with a stout recipe.

Oh a British ale. Now there's a worthy challenge and a great way to dial in your changes. Low gravity. Full of malt and English yeast character. Not something I've ever really tried to brew...

Hi Jam Man,

If that is 2016 AJ then I would wait another few months to cold condition and age them if I was you. The cider will improve as a result.

After pressing over 350ltrs of apple juice to make cider I'll have plenty of cider samples for 2017 and might last me till next years apple harvest.

lads i've recently come across a truly seminal piece of work....
Better Winemaking And Brewing For Beginners by BCA Turner.

Mr Turner is my kind of guy....

' Home brewed beer, properly made and matured is a superb beverage, beneficial as a tonic, perfect as an accompaniment to certain foods and a wonderful aid to relaxation and enjoyment of fellowship'

'Within the last few years many women have returned to their erstwhile task and some of the best beer being brewed at home is being made by women. Perhaps they hope to keep their husbands with them at home instead of being left alone whilst the men go to their local pub.'

Belgian ale then maybe or a would really like to do a Rye inspired ale (CC I know I can't help it with the funny ingredients).

Just wanted to let people know that I will be bringing along chocolate malt tomorrow continuing on the malt tasting experiment. If anybody has a thermos and wants to bring along some different type of grain would be cool. 50 grams of finely crushed grain, 400 ml of 70C water (allow for 5C heat loss). I will bring along a few spare coffee filters and a thermometer and a container to drain the liquid in to.

Thank you Shanana and Molc on your advice on creating a berry cider last September having a 10:1 apple to berry mix as I'll be bottling that brew this evening,  and look forward to next summer sampling that with you guys.

I have roast barley and black malt (I think), but don't think I'll have time to get it crushed and water heated before the train to the meet. Might try to plan a little ahead for the next meet and bring some complimentary grains though - it's a great idea.

Need to do the same myself with some aromatic and munich malt, as I added it to a lager recently and made a bloody malt bomb. Not sure which caused it!

+1... to be honest bubbles entire range last night was pretty damn good... imagine what this fella is going to achieve with the new kit!
i remember one of my first meets some lad bangin on about how the grainfather confers an unfair advantage in competiton... how it wasn't really proper homebrewing...

your amber was tip top for me molc... wouldn't change a thing on that recipe.

Thanks! It needs a colour and clarity adjustment but the flavours are pretty good alright. My recipe from last year might still be better though... It's only 6 weeks grain to glass though, with quite a kick, so still has to clean up a bit.

Looking forward to rebrewing the lager with the traditional method and seeing how it works out now. Great feedback there.

Hey I resemble that remark :).It's also the case that continuously changing ones setup can & does impact ones ability to consistently good beer. I have picked up multiple tips from others at our meets & while I might be sensitive to feedback/criticism of my beers the have usually been spot on.
