Title: Fast Ferment temp control
Post by: DEMPSEY on December 15, 2016, 01:59:32 PM
Anyone have one of these conicals. I have one and as I only have 1 fermentation fridge I have this unit hanging on the wall in me Emporium :). Trying to control the temp is driving me nuts and all the company offers is a jacket that you put bottles of frozen ice in to so feck that crap >:(. I was considering fitting some sort of stainless steel coil in and out of the lid :-\

Emporium  8)
You won't need ice surely unless you LB'ers are at that birching again of yourselves in the Sauna?
What about a heater band or belt with a probe in a thermocouple through the lid controlled by an STC?

open the door
Get a larder fridge Mr Dempsey with a 60W heater in the bottom, cooling cools are expensive and host a myriad of paces for gunk to hide.
I know the lads on Jims use beer coolers for lager but really inefficient for our purposes  :(

Thinking along the lines of a small water bath with a heating element in it and a cooling unit too. Fit a solar pump and an STC and run temp controlled Ethylene glycol through a coil fitted to the lid

Love it. Would have been a hell of a lot cheaper to get a fridge but where's the fun in that.
