Title: Brew Stick
Post by: Donny on December 20, 2016, 11:33:53 AM
Has anyone built or bought a stick heater for brewing?

My electric hobs have a  setting that turns off a few rings on a cycle (all on for a few minutes and half on for longer) so it's hard to have a rolling boil going on.

I'm only doing 5ltr batches at the moment but I was considering building or buying a stick heater to help keep a steady boil going.

I sense you are at the top of a slippery slope...
1St a simple heat stick then before you know it your in a purpose built shed .

CH shared a video of a guy testing the cheap Chinese brewsticks a while ago. There's plenty of dodgy ones that could end up being very dangerous submerged in liquid so just be careful.

Does an induction hob need particular pots?

"Cookware for induction hobs must be made from magnetisable metal such as cast iron or stainless steel. Pure copper or aluminium pans are not suitable for induction hobs unless they incorporate encapsulated steel or iron bases."
