Title: Fridges don't like cold weather!!
Post by: Will_D on December 21, 2016, 11:10:51 PM
An interesting observation about fridges in cold places:

Opened my fridge the other day and there was a lot a water in various containers/bottom of fridge places!

WTF thinks I?

STC shows 4C (at setpoint) but no ice!

Reason is that domestic fridges have to keep up with the ambient temps and peeps opening doors all the time  so the ice box is always driven below 0C to keep rest of fridge cool.

Put same fridge in garage (at 12C or less) and don't open door, so then the ice box defrosts but still inside is at set point!

So make sure the condensate from the ice box doesn't ruin whatevers in fridge

Second that, went out to shed during the week, foul smell coming from split  kegerator/freezer. Compressor knackered, no longer chilling (fan still working away).

Nice open ferment, framboise sour on the way though!
