Right the time has come to invest some cash on a grain mill. Been borrowing a mill and using pre-crushed for too long so hit me up with some recommendations. As it stands I'm thinking the bulldog one on special at homebrew west for 125 plus a free 25kg bag of malt. Any other suggestions welcome please. Cheers.
That's a good price.
Trying to explain my misus it is a good present for my bday ;)
Just do the,"look what you bought me for my present, why thank you I always knew you really love me". :D
Ive the bulldog mill bought from the Uk and almost 14 batches gone through it in the past year. haven't had to change the roller spacing in that time and im hitting 83% mash efficiency with it. With the price of the bag of grain your getting the mill for €100 which is a really good deal on a solid crusher. I'd highly recommend it.
I've been borrowing a friends mill regularly and have been on the lookout for my own.
This deal was too good to pass up. the Mill, the base, a bucket and 25kg of malt for €125. :o
I just ordered it and applied their 10% code and the NHC 5% code and made a complete steal!

Balls, I missed the 10% code and only used the 5% code for NHC :(
I wonder if I can cancel and reorder?

Sure give it a go! Save you 12.50!
Gah, no way on the site to cancel the order. No matter, it's a great deal even without the 10% extra off.
Lads if you get this with viking pilsner malt coukd anyone suggest pilner recipe for same.

Viking Pale, Pilsner or Wheat. I went with Pale. Never used it before either.
I got the double discount - fantastic value - now need to go on the recipe search.
It's worth taking a read through this forum post regarding the mill assembly. Seems they're are some issues with the quality of the screws

Yeah I saw that. I'm tempted to get this but wondering how it held up after the initial problems, if any of the lads who have it a while would let us know. Also wondering how it compares to the Blue Bollix one that NHC have.

I pulled the trigger on this and it arrived today. First impressions are positive. The mill feels solid and its handy to have it already mounted. One thing I did notice is that the metal rollers had splinters on them. I turned the mill upside down and pressed the Styrofoam packaging against the rollers and turned them slowly. That seems to have gotten rid of the loose pieces. Just worth keeping an eye on them if you get one. I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces yet but will update this when I do.

Always a good idea with any new mill to run a kilo through and tip it, it will get rid of any swarf or oils.
You won't know yourself with fresh grain
I have some shitty old grain that will do just the job
we all do :D :D
Got it this morning as well ;) throw extra few things on top of that for free delivery , -10% and -5% off and using my points it was a real steal ;)
Just ordered one myself. Been meaning to get one of these for the past year. Did what you did Dracusse - threw on the extras, availed of the Homebrew Freebie plus the 10% and the 5%. Now I just need to explain to the wife how good of a deal it was and that I couldn't leave it at that price. :)
Just tell her how much you saved, I'm deaf in one ear from that about shoes and handbags
When my wife tell me that she saved €25 on a jacket I tell her that she should have bought 4 of them that way we would have saved €100, basic economics really :o
I used this mill on Saturday and I was very impressed. Nice big hopper on it and milled through the grain without any issues.
Very happy with my purchase.
