Hopefully someone can help me with a handpump that I bought ages ago, but am only trying to set up now. It's a hi-gene pump that I bought second hand, and it comes with a cask breather and demand vavle. I presume that it works off the same basis as any hand pump? I want to be able to set it up with a corney, so that I can serve over a period of time, and not just a couple of days. As per the attached picture, there are three outlets. From checking different forums, this makes me think my beer engine is a double pull type with 2 inputs one for the pull and one for the push. this makes me wonder what the outlet on the bottom is? It's mentioned that I need a Y piece, but just not sure what is neeed to get it all up and working.
Any ideas, as I'd love to be using this for xmas?
Does that mean a flow and return for the python so?
Test it with a Corny full of water to start.
I won't be using the python part of it. I was using water as I wanted to clean the handpump before I put beer into it. I was talking to one of the lads in Dublin last weekend, so just need to connect to the bottom part, but I don't have a connection for it, so probably no hand pumped ale for me this xmas. Might take it with me into the well some day, and see if they have any spare connections.
The only thing about that is that I intend to use it with a corney under pressure, so I need connectors for the cask breather and demand valve as well, so not sure I can bodge it all together.
I got some half inch line off paudieĀ in the well tonight, so that fits between the demand valve and into the beerpump, and my regular line from the corney fits into the other side of the demand valve, as the in and out on the valve are different sizes. I just pulled some water through and it seemed to work grand. All I need now are a few jubillee clips to keep it sound. Looks like I will be drinking hand pumped ale at home for xmas, and from here on! I'll post up a picture later.
