Title: accidently added sweetner before the yeast
Post by: jdh on January 16, 2017, 07:53:47 PM
Howdy folks,I was making a batch of craft cider from homebrewest this evening and when all was mixed up I picked up the sweetner pack instead of the yeast and had had half poured in when i realised i had the wrong pack,i poured in the yeast and mixed all up and hope for the best, will it work out?will the yeast kill the sweetner or vica versa?

It will be grand
The sweetener which is artificial won't ferment so should still be in flavour profile when you bottle

Yep
Let us know how it's tastes after fermentation has finished, it should be sweet even though gravity is 1005 or below

well I got round to sampling the cider and yes its grand, good kick too,i'd actually be tempted to put in the sweetner at the same time again as it doesnt taste as sweet or artifical as when added before bottling, must have fermented with the cider, thanks again for the advice lads!!!
