Title: Have a laugh at my expense..lol
Post by: Oh Crap on February 02, 2017, 04:59:27 PM
Day off today so brewed a nice and easy pale ale ish beer
Crushed grain at work yesterday...
Did all water stuff last night and set strike temp
2.5 MO
2.5 Vienna
Efficiency 75%+
Step mash, herms system
Mashed in and settled at 50 for 30 mins, rose temp to 66 for 30 mins, vorlauf and mashed out at 75.5 for 10 mins..all good so far
Sparged at 78.5.
Boil volume down 2.5 L due to human error 😝😂
So that was the start
Preboil gravity 10pts high
Boiled for 60, whirlpool 15
Chilled and transfer to fv.
Postboil gravity 1.064 13 pts off
Fermenter volume 22L
Head scratching whilst cleaning up
Calculations work out 104% efficiency , I am the man😄😁😋😊
Rechecked hydrometer, refractometer and any thing used for measuring...
Except 1....any ideas? Fishjam not allowed to guesx
Winner gets a bottle

If your boil volume is down then your sparge water was probably down too so you should get more sugars in your wort?

And we have a winner.....
I had an additional 1.5 kg mo...misread the scales read 1.0 not 2.0 so put that in the bucket and weighed another 1.5kg...
Didn't cop it till later and weighed more grain and voila..I now have an "Imperial" pale ale 😜😜😜
