Just paid up membership having dropped in for advice from time to time. I've been brewing properly with my Father for the past 4 years. Using the german BrauEule set up and we've enjoyed some fantastic brews.
Thought at first brewing would save us a few quid but truth is you can't buy beer of the same quality that you make yourself.
We do 40L brew lenghts and TBH I can't keep the old fella in beer so we need to scale up to twice that...
I see alot of lads here have the Brewmeister and grainfather... what sort of capacity do they have?
Many thanks,
Jamie
Welcome Jamie! Never heard of the BrauEule system before, you got any pics of your setup?

Hey Jamie,
Welcome to the forum. I use a Grainfather and it is a fantastic piece of equipment but the batches that you get are only about 23L-25L. I know the Braumeister has a 50L option but it's expensive and you're not going to get much more than what you already get from your current system.
Grainfather is great and you could do a double brew on the day if you want to . Welcome to the club.where are you based

Thanks for the welcome and hope the pictures come out alright..
It gives great temperature control on the mash and you have the option for temp gradients if using less well modified grain.
The blichmann FV is the business... wil have to get another one if we scale up

I'm in Mayo.. don't think there's a club yet?
should have said... that's a lauter tun/kettle on the left and the mash tun on the right...
Are you able to temperature control your fermentation
Not yet.. we've been looking to add a fridge or something else that would facilitate cooling and heating to control the temp but we've been lucky so far.
Just means keeping a good eye on the ambient and moving it round from room to room sometimes! Same for conditioning
If it fits in a tall fridge you are laughing. Very easy temp control. If not :(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170227/c1ee7b2e9c9380909beac86e93a60013.jpg)
It fits in a tall fridge but just haven't got round to buying one. We've been lucky that we always have a room in my dad's house to suit the temp we need for fermentation, conditioning etc. I know it sounds mad but dad has the rads rigged or just turned off all together to get the mix of temperatures. Don't know how mum puts up with him!

is that your own set up?
Hey Jamie, where in mayo are you. There are a few mayo boys here but we're all pretty spread out
A friend of mine had the Brau Eule. Swears by the self cleaning mechanism. How do you find that?

Yeah, it's class... makes a brew day much more enjoyable. Probably going to sell it on soon though because of the capacity limited at 40L and don't really fancy brewing twice in a day.

Know it well - the parents are only a few miles out the road though I'm living the other side of the country atm.

Yeah it is. Not as cheap as a brewfridge, and I will need to insulate it more to get it efficiently down to really low temps. E.g. Lagering. But happy enough with it.
I think it's a better deal than the chronical ftss systems, which have no active cooling method.
