I'm the same, I'm going 'what can I use it for?' - thinking of a smaller BrewPi, but don't really need another one, somebody in the club might be getting a useful pressie soon.

A very neat Kodi box?

Got a Pi 3b last week. Currently serving as a Nintendo/Megadrive with an Xbox controller. That's brewing related, right?

Sent from my phone, please excuse the typos.

If I build a craftbeerpi, I'll then have an ArdBir, SmartPID and that, all for controlling the same thing. Will have to start selling control boxes soon :P

Just wondering, will any of this fit onto the Pi Zero W* (https://techcrunch.com/2017/03/02/nasa-released-a-ton-of-software-for-free-and-heres-some-you-should-try/)? ;)

So, if I put a drone into my mashtun, will it provide optimum mixing? :D

Anyone recommend a temperature probe that'd work with the pi? Thinking of something that can record temp through fermentation, maybe even check in on it from work on my phone.

Sent from my phone, please excuse the typos.

Only one to consider is DS18B20, digital that most use.

Might need a 6-8mm ID thermowell

Have a look at this thread

You could build a brewpi with a pi zero w setup for about 40 euro.

Brewpi will fit on a 4 gig sd card. Get a Transend class

5 pcs DS18b20 Waterproof Temperature Sensors Temperature Transducer https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CHEZ250/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RLOWyb67K76NN

What cables do you use when going from gpio to a SSR?

I use female to male DuPont cables.  If you want to get fancy you can use a bread board as well.

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/272153083323

You will also need a 4.7k resistor

If you don't use DuPont you will have to solder to the gpio header
