Title: Brew suggestions
Post by: Donny on May 27, 2017, 05:34:29 PM
Around 3 years ago I was gifted some Golding's and prima Donna plants. I have looked after them as best as I could and got a little from them last year and the year before. I read that it takes hops about 3 years to settle up and this year I hope to make a harvest brew of some type.

Could anyone suggest what I could make combining these two hops?

A Stout, or an English Porter.

You could do a Red Ale, but that's a waste of grain and hops, and water and yeast. And time.

BB is right.
Googling tells me Prima Donna is a dwarf First Gold.
Both hops are suited to any English style.
English Bitter, Pale Ale, Stout.

Just found a pretty cool site...

I find with fresh hops it's better to bitter with a known AA hop and then use the unknown fresh hops all for late aroma.
Expect to use about 4 to 5 times the amount you would with dried hops.
