Title: Dishwasher Bottle Washer
Post by: aweisse on May 31, 2017, 03:29:28 PM
Ive picked up a dishwasher for free , and ive been thinking of adapting it to wash bottles.
Ive seen the bens bottle washer which fits into compatible dishwashers, but the biggest bottle
that can take it 330ml bottles. Its all 500ml bottles i have.
Anyone else try this method of bottle cleaning?
It a be great to load up 24 500ml bottles and have them all sparkleing and ready in the end.

I'm no expert and don't claim to be but........when I open a bottle I rinse it out straight away, then it goes in the dishwasher and in the crate ready for my next batch. When bottling I will pop the dishwasher on first thing in the morning with 40-45 500ml bottles(second run in the dishwasher) get my bits ready and by the time the dishwasher finishes and the bottles cool I'm ready to go.

Done all my batches like this and I have never had a problem. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe it works? But they come out clean and sparkling, no off flavours and no infected bottles. So as long as it works IL keep doing it.

With a regular dishwasher, there is a concern of contamination with food.
An unjetted dishwasher cannot clean inside the bottles effectively.
This means food particles could potentially get in there and yeast etc. may not be removed.

Yeah it all comes down to how clean your wishwasher is and also what residue it leaves in the bottles, both chemically and biologically.
