Title: Sour Bugs Question
Post by: vinyljunkie on September 24, 2017, 11:19:09 PM
Looking to brew my first proper sour, planning something like a lambic, flanders red or blonde not sure yet. I like very sour beers so just wondering. What are the differences between buying say Brett WLP650, Lacto WLP672 and a yeast over a belgian sour mix or Roselare blend? Planning on others advise to pitch my choice straight to primary and leaving for a year or whatever.

You get alot of bugs in 1 vial as opposed to buying the brett and lacto you mention but also pediococcus. It just keeps things nice and simple. Alternatively you can pitch bottle dregs of your favourite sour.

I think there's more character to bottle dregs. Usually I start with a mixed vial and then adds dregs from sours that I like as I go
