Title: Kegging starter kit
Post by: Ceedee on February 23, 2018, 01:11:36 PM
Being a relatively new brewer, I'm bottling at the moment, but the allure of kegs is never far from my mind. I just saw this on the GEB website
https://www.geterbrewed.com/complete-keg-set-up-19-litre-corny-keg-starter-kit/ (https://www.geterbrewed.com/complete-keg-set-up-19-litre-corny-keg-starter-kit/)

Not having looked into the price of kegging equipment yet, is this "reasonable" value ? It'll include the convenience tax of getting everything at the same time and it being new of course.

It does NOT include CO2 so thats another cost to add on.

You can get that setup for cheaper from here, https://www.kegkingdom.co.uk/collections/corny-keg-kits you have the choice of choosing a refurbished keg which is cheaper and I've heard good things about their kegs. Plus they have a discount for members.

Look at the Homebrew company, they have refurbished kegs which are perfect and a regulator for around €120. Get the disconnects and John Guest fittings on eBay from the uk or if you have the time Aliexpress, they're much cheaper this way.

Or post up on the wanted section. There are excess kegging bits in sheds up and down the country. It shouldn't be too hard to get set up for around 100. I would keep away from 'picnic' taps. And decide on your beer and gas line diameter early to avoid wasting money on different size fittings.
