Title: Completions
Post by: Daves Beer/Ale on April 03, 2018, 02:39:20 PM
Hi guys, I have been brewing since last year but I use kits that I get from my homebrew supplier to make my beer and I was just wondering if I could enter brewing competitions even though I use kits

Hey Dave,

Once the beer is to style then fire away. There is no stipulation on whether or not kits are allowed. The best beer will win on the day.

HTH,

Mick

I've won medals on both hacked kit cans and modified grain kits.
Kits rarely have anything special about them as standard, and typically score in the mid range if brewed carefully, but a few modifications can really make them shine.
Change the yeast, add some dryhops, steep some grain. Go mad... you're the only person you need to please.
I put up a post on kit hacking in the kits section: http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.ie/forum/kit-brewing/how-to-kit-hack-(an-intermediate-guide)/

Sorry about the broken images. Photobucket seem to have become a bunch of money hungry twats.
