Lads cheers for all your good wishes, been out of things for a while.
Not the only factor but this is riducalous, is anyone else dealing with this rubbish. Was good up until about christmas but has gone to shite lately. To be honest I dont even try to log on most of the time now because I drop connection so often, grand sometimes but frustrating as hell when it plays up.
Dont/cant have cable, what are my options?
hey ! - is there not some local wireless ? i have some work buddies form Dunanore in Wexford who use it - is that near you ?
i can have a chat wiht some wexy work buddies see what they use
* edit - you could always buy in a bit of equipment - arials and what not - if you had a dude with a good connection within @ 5 - 10 miles ( kinda line of sight ) and split the costs ?
Been disconnected 4 or 5 times since I posted this, but this is a ood night >:(
I dont have a contract so can and will walk, but dont have a big lever to bate them with. UPC are cable right?
QuoteDunanore in Wexford
Never heard of it, but interest in the feedback Damo ;)
are you sure its external ?
eliminate the wireless router and modem in the house first - i know we had a chat about it last time ... only remember bits though ;D
gimmie a bell if ya wanna chew the cud over it
Quoteonly remember bits though
Same as that ::)
Exchange just up the road, there are 8 houses on the road and thats the same for the lat 5 years. Built the house myself and know where every wire is, no chance of such an incident accuring here. Service was top notch up until it was shite, been onto eircom but not given it my full attention until now as I had other things on my mind, but I feel a confruntation coming on ;D

I'd say your copper lines to the house are sitting in a pool of water somewhere along the way.
Can you check with any of your neighbours have the same issue? It might isolate the area of the problem if some are good and some not.
Do you get any red leds on your router? (DSL fails)
You could look at your BB Router and see if the IP has been renewed.
I'm not sure the lease period, but if you were to check and note this daily, this might mean the line 'drops'.
Eircom are generally happy to send out a spare router (Modem) I have 2 Zyxel ones. I have seen some people rubbish the Eircom (Zyxel) routers saying they drop the connection etc.
I was speaking to someone recently who has an issue where their BB does not work when their water pump (For a well) kicks in. Strange.
I had a very similar problem with Vodafone before Christmas. After months of phone calls back & forth I tried switching the router with a spare Eircom one i had lying around. It works better than ever now. All the right lights were appearing on the old modem so i never suspected there was anything wrong.
ahem... Dunanore is in "north" Ross not wexford
Anyway the guys there have a wisp connection ripplewave or something like that - was originally created by a local guy - its since ben resold and resold so my buddy cant rememeber the actual name
anyway - some of the pointers from the lads are right :
Check List
Are the Neighbours ok ?
Check the little phone point in the house
Should have two filters on it 1 for telephone, 1 for BB
I would guess though that this prob hasn't changed
Do you run a few phones ? - have you added another to the line ?
Do you have a router/modem all in one job ? or are there two "boxes" ?
If 2 Boxes start by applying this to the Router Box and then repeat with modem box if you need to
I would start by first getting an ethernet cable and plug laptop into the modem/router directly if it works without dropping the connection - then it could be the wireless part of the router/modem that is the issue
I have loads of these cables if you don't have one - let me know & Ill bring one in the next meet
If being wired into the box and the signal is still dropping - then it could be just that the router is giving up the gohst - as one of the lads says - you can prob get one of them for free from Eircom
Try www.carnsorebroadband.com, they offer a great service if you are in an area they can cover :)
