Title: Grainfather special offer
Post by: Keg on June 09, 2018, 10:44:10 AM
Hi All

I spotted this offer online, grainfather 50% off, which works out as £262 ex vat and delivery from the UK.
This grainfather isn't the newest model and doesn't include the new Bluetooth controller.  I have a Bulldog Brewer V1 but could anyone familiar with both tell me if this looks like a good deal, and if you think it's worth 'upgrading' from a bulldog brewer to a Grainfather?

Thanks in advance
Keg

I hope it's not a scam because I've taken the plunge! I've spoken to them on the phone to discuss, and their web presence all seems pretty legit with a good history.

I'll be back with my tail between my legs to warn you all if the bank account is emptied.

I've arranged a malt group buy in the past with Brewers Select. The phone number is the same as listed on the BS website. Give the number a call if you are concerned. I doubt
it's a scam

So anyway, it turns out one of the people there is rich and had decided to share their millions with homebrewers through excellent deals on brewing products...forgive the poor attempt at humour

In fairness to them, they explained that they generally supply craft breweries rather than homebrewers and that they had a number of grainfathers in stock for whatever reason that they weren't actively trying to sell.

They noted that there's now a newer version of the grainfather available with Bluetooth controller and as they don't intend to sell or support them in future they just decided to clear them out of stock.  Seems they were taken aback by the interest.

They seem to be more of a wholesale operation, so opening an account is pretty normal. You'll like the GF. Even if you spring for the new control box, thats a great deal.

Cheers, looking forward to trying it out and comparing it to the Bulldog brewer

I've bought stuff off them before and they are fine.
I was just enough reason for me not to buy after all who needs a second one
I bought a second controller for my HLT they are like 120 or something, well worth it for the connectivity.
Best of luck with it.
